Council Tax 2024 – 2025

March 19th 2024

As you are aware the Council Tax Bills are now arriving either by post or email and you will notice that the St. Just Precept has increased by 26%.

To put this into perspective you are looking at a 70p per week rise to a Band D property, an overall rise of £36.40 per year.

Last year Cornwall Council devolved the toilets to St Just Town Council along with the car parks. The Town Council had long since agreed to take on these services and with them comes increased costs.

We now have to pay Business rates on both sets of car parks, toilet cleaning contracts, and on-going maintenance costs, and with these extra services comes a need for more staff. As a council we have to try and look at the bigger picture as if we did not take the car parks or toilets from Cornwall Council, the car park would now be a pay and display and the toilets could have been shut.
