St Just in Penwith Town Council 2025/26 Budget Summary

St Just in Penwith Town Council has finalised the budget for the 2025/26 financial year, ensuring that vital community services continue to be delivered.

Key Budget Headlines:

  • Precept Requested: £334250.00
  • Percentage Decrease: -2.86%
  • Band D Property Annual Contribution: £171.53 (compared to £176.59 in 2024/25)
  • Weekly Decrease for Band D Properties: £0.09
  • Annual Decrease for Band D Properties: £5.06

How the Precept Fits into Your Council Tax

The precept is the amount of your Council Tax that is allocated specifically to St Just in Penwith Town Council. Cornwall Council sets the overall Council Tax rate, which includes contributions for various local services such as police, fire services, waste collection, and more. The town council precept is included within this overall bill, and it funds essential local services including Pendeen recreation park, bus shelters, benches, footpaths, grass cutting, Plan an Gwarry, public toilets, car parks and the library.

Once Cornwall Council sets its budget, you’ll receive your Council Tax bill, which will include our precept alongside the contributions for other services.

Comparison to 2024/25

This year’s budget reflects a decrease of 2.86%, and is significantly lower than the 26.05% rise seen in 2024/25. This careful budgeting aims to manage rising costs while minimizing the impact on residents. The total amount of precept requested was higher than last year by £24608, but with the new rules on second homes giving us extra funds, the total amount has decreased.
