Pendeen Playpark

February 28th 2025

Children and their families in Pendeen can now enjoy a refurbished play park refurbished to enhance and improve accessibility.

Cllr Fynn Tucker and Mayor Robert Chadder visited the newly refurbished playpark to see what new equipment and tables had been provided.

Last Autumn St. Just Town Council commissioned work to renew and replace play equipment at Pendeen Play-Park. The plans included a new slide, swings, a see-saw, basketball hoops and football goalposts, along with the addition of accessible paths and picnic benches. The new equipment will now cater for a wide age range, supporting both individual and group activities.

As the only town council run recreation space in St. Just parish, it is a focal point for families to meet and socialise together in activities that incur no cost. The dated, worn facilities for children and young people have been replaced with new, exciting equipment to increase social engagement and well-being and provide a reason to become more active.

St. Just Town Mayor, Councillor Robert Chadder, said:’’ I am delighted that the Council has invested in equipment for the play-park in Pendeen. The project has been part- funded by £60k from Cornwall Council’s Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding specifically set up to deliver local infrastructure projects relating to children and young people. I’d like to thank the residents of Crescent Place for their understanding and patience whilst the works were carried out. Today, it’s a pleasure to be able to visit this refurbished park which I’m sure will be a great resource for the whole community’’.
